About The ACM

ACM, the Association for Computing Machinery, is an international scientific and educational organization dedicated to advancing the arts, sciences, and applications of information technology. With a world-wide membership of 80,000, ACM functions as a focus for computing professionals and students working in the various fields of Information Technology. ACM is proud to provide resources for computing professionals such as articles, journals and an industry leading Digital Library

We are a student chapter of that organization, based at the University at Buffalo. We are pleased to be recognized by the Undergraduate Student Association of UB, in which we receive part of funding.

ACM provides an informative and fun environment for those looking to expand their computing knowledge. We hold tutorials on multiple programming languages such as C++, Perl, PHP, mySQL, etc. We also provide lectures by guest speakers, such as Mark Green of the Center of Computational Research (CCR). We plan continue to grow our LAN party this year, again in the UB Student Union lobby. Details on this event will be posted soon. While we seem to be computer science based, we are eagerly looking for events that are more hardware or circuits related.

If you are interested in getting involved, we hold meetings biweekly, usually in Bell 224 on North Campus. Check out the “Event Calendar” page, and join our listserv to receive club updates.
