10/21/2009 - Upcoming Events!
Hello Again. We have some upcoming ACM Events.
The First event is Next Wednesday the 28th which will be Hosted by ACM
and the Philosophy Club at UB. We will be discussing the intersections
of Computer Science and philosophy. Food will be provided and the
event will last from about 3:30 to 5:30. Feel free to come at anytime.
Our second event is going to be the Rave at the
buffalo hackerspace! This event will be taking place next Friday the
29th. Also at this event we will be celebrating the release of Ubuntu
9.10! If you need come down with your laptop and we will be happy to
furnish you with an install. This combined with Food, Drink, a DJ
friend of ACM, and the very intelligent crowd from the Buffalo
Hackerspace should make for a rockin event. Also, ACM will only be
providing non-alcoholic beverages. Due to new SA regulations we can
not provide alcohol with money associated with SA. However, if you are
of age and would like to bring your own that's up to you. ;) More
details on the Buffalo Hacker space can be found at
buffalo.hackerspaces.us and meetup.com/hackerspaces. Also I imagine
people will be needing rides to the Hackerspace. We should have an ACM
forum up and running in a few days which we will use to coordinate
rideshares.
Speaking of the ACM Website: Our web master Matt is currently pretty
sick. So on behalf of ACM, I began a Get Well Soon Matt General
e-card. Navigate to this link to sign it. http://tinyurl.com/yj9ynq9
Also, if anybody would like to help distribute flyers for either
event, I will be leaving flyers in the ACM mailbox in 350 Student
Union. Please feel free to pick them up and pass them out/tack them
up. Quick thing however, please don't post flyers on undesignated
areas(Basically anyspace that isn't a corkboard or already has a
billion other flyers).

9/14/2009 - We're Back!
ACM is back! We are currently trying to work out a few things. Most importantly is the meeting times. Below is an email from President Brian Borncamp regarding the current situation.
Hello again. For our next ACM meeting we are going to be doing officer
elections for the position of Treasurer. Also, we should be getting
some type of food. We would like to accomodate as many people as
possible who have an interest in attending ACM meetings at any point
in time the rest of the semster. As such, please take the following
poll so we can get an idea of what times work and what times do not.
Don't worry about the dates listed, just pencil in your average weekly
avaliability.

10/23/2008 - Elections
As mentioned at our meeting last week, we'll be holding elections next Tuesday (October 28th) at 6:30 in Bell 242 for the positions of Secretary and Treasurer. This is a great chance to get involved and help us plan our events this year, so don't miss out!
If you are interested in running for a position, please email me (mcarlino@buffalo.edu) with the following information:
- Your name
- Your major (CS/CEN/EE/Math preferred)
- Brief description of applicable jobs/hobbies/interests
- A brief statement telling us why you're a good candidate
Please note that you must contact me with this information by *Friday, October 24th at midnight*.
For the election, candidates can give a quick "campaign speech" (nothing to the level of the presidential debates, though!). Shortly thereafter, we'll collect votes for each position and take it from there. You must be in attendance at the meeting to run.
10/9/2008 - First Open Meeting
The ACM will be holding their first general meeting of the year next week, including FREE PIZZA AND POP. The details:
- WHEN: Tuesday, October 14th at 6:30 PM
- WHERE: Bell 242
- WHO: Everyone! All majors welcome!
We're coming up with some ideas for this year's events, and we need your help! All of the ACM activities and events take a lot of planning, and we're always looking for new events to sponsor for the UB community.
So it's up to you! Join us on Tuesday for some free pizza, and share your thoughts and ideas with the ACM community and like-minded students. Tell us what events you want to see this year!
See you there!
8/25/2008 - Welcome Back!
We hope everyone had a great summer. We'd like to extend a special welcome to all new students who are joining the UB
community this fall.
Between straightening out your schedule and buying textbooks, we know you're probably very busy right around now. The
ACM will not be holding its first meeting for a few weeks, but check back often for updates. The first meeting will be
open to everyone, and we're eager to hear any ideas and suggestions you have for this upcoming academic year.
We're currently in the planning stages for all the events, tutorials and meetings for this year. The
ACM Lan Party, which
has been a huge hit the past few years, is slated for the spring semester. If you have any ideas for an event, tutorial or
speaker, don't hesitate to tell us. You can contact the chapter officers on the
Contact page.
In the mean time, don't forget to
join the ACM mailing list and register at our
forums!
There you can seek academic advice, read and share hardware and software reviews, get expert tech support, or just shoot the
breeze with members of the ACM community. Everyone is more than welcome to join.
We hope everyone has a great semester!
